Overview
Founded in 1987 with just six rescued pandas, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is China’s flagship giant panda breeding and research institution. It’s now one of the world’s most successful conservation centers dedicated to giant pandas, red pandas, and other endangered species.
The base blends research labs, breeding nurseries, naturalistic enclosures, educational exhibits, and scenic bamboo forests into a tranquil wildlife sanctuary just outside Chengdu city center.
