Yangjiajie is one of the three main scenic regions inside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, located west of the more famous Yuanjiajie plateau. While many visitors rush toward the Avatar-like pillars of Yuanjiajie, Yangjiajie offers a very different experience: quieter trails, rugged mountain ridges, and dramatic viewpoints with fewer crowds.
The area is famous for its sharp sandstone peaks that rise like stone spears from deep forest valleys. Many of the formations here are more rugged and steep than those in other parts of the park, giving Yangjiajie a wilder and more adventurous atmosphere.
