We carefully select comfortable, well-reviewed hotels that offer convenient locations, clean facilities, and welcoming service. Wherever possible, we choose boutique properties with local character to enhance your travel experience rather than simply providing a place to sleep.
Accommodation standards vary across Western Sichuan due to the remote plateau environment. While facilities in Chengdu are comparable to international city hotels, accommodations in high-altitude regions focus more on comfort, cleanliness, and hospitality than luxury.
Every QuietRoutes itinerary is 100% tailor-made. Whether you prefer luxury resorts, boutique hotels, family-friendly stays, or premium international brands whenever available, we’ll customize the accommodation to match your travel style and budget.

Why does this itinerary include an extra night in Shangri-La Town?
Instead of hiking immediately after arrival, the additional night gives you time to relax, explore the town, and adapt to the altitude before visiting Yading Nature Reserve. Many travelers find this makes the hiking experience more enjoyable and comfortable.

Our guide Robin reminded everyone to take it slow because of the altitude. He also explained the prayer wheels, flags, and Tibetan customs with great respect. We learned far more than we expected.
