Spend a day at a Chengdu panda volunteer program in Dujiangyan Panda Base or Wolong Panda Reserve, working alongside real panda keepers.

Itinerary
07:00–08:30 | Chengdu Hotel Pick Up
In the early morning, our driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel.Â
Then, we’ll transfer to Dujiangyan Panda Base (or Wolong Panda Reserve, depending on availability). It’s about 70 km, 1.5 hours’ driving.
08:30–09:00 | Arrival → Volunteer Registration
When you arrive at the base, you’ll meet the staff and follow their guidance to get ready for the day.
This usually includes:
- Changing into a volunteer uniform;
- A short introduction covering panda care and basic safety guidelines.
09:00–12:00 | Morning Volunteer Work
This is the most hands-on and rewarding part of the day. You’ll work alongside panda keepers and take part in simple daily tasks such as:
- Preparing fresh bamboo and panda food
- Cleaning panda enclosures
- Observing panda behavior up close
It’s a bit physically demanding, but still relaxed and meaningful. You’ll feel like part of the team.
12:00–13:00 | Lunch Break
Enjoy a simple local lunch at the base and take a short rest.
This is also a good time to chat with staff and learn more about panda conservation.
13:00–15:00 | Afternoon Activities and Learning
In the afternoon, the pace slows down. You may:
- Watch documentaries about giant pandas
- Learn more about conservation efforts
- Continue light volunteer tasks if available
You’ll also have more time to walk around and see the pandas in a quieter setting.
15:00–16:00 | Wrap-Up and Certificate
Finish your volunteer experience and receive a panda volunteer certificate as a special memory of your day.
16:00–17:30 | Return to Chengdu
Your driver will drive back to Chengdu and drop you off at your hotel, ending a unique and memorable day.

- Follow all staff instructions carefully—strict ethical rules protect the pandas at all times
- Wear comfortable clothes and sturdy walking shoes for outdoor activities
- Keep a safe distance from the pandas. Direct contact isn’t allowed
- Bring sunscreen, water, and anything you may need for a full day outdoors

No. Physical contact is not allowed for visitors. This experience focuses on ethical care and observation.
